- The NLN family received some terrible news on Friday. Dr. Ruth Corcoran, CEO between 1998 and January 2007, died suddenly. My heart goes out to her dear husband Marty, to her children and grandchildren, and to her many friends. At the time of Ruth's retirement, the Ruth D. Corcoran Fund for Nursing Education Research was established in her honor by the NLN Foundation for Nursing Education, a fitting tribute to her professional and personal legacy. It is because of Ruth's vision and her tenacity that we are able to make the contributions we do today to the nursing education universe. There is more about Ruth on the NLN Foundation website at www.nlnfoundation.org/Ruth_Corcoran_Fund.cfm and you can learn about Ruth's
remarkable tenure at the NLN in her own words in "A Journey to Transformation," online at http://nln.allenpress.com/pdfserv/i1536-5026-027-06-0342.pdf..
A celebration of Ruth's life will take place in Florida on Saturday, February 20, 2010, from 1 to 5 pm. The location is the Churchill Street Recreation Center, 2375 Churchill Downs, The Villages, FL 32162. Mikes will be set up, and all who are present will be invited to speak.
