·         Maintain professional and orderly environment in the Practical Nursing office
·         Assist in creating partnerships between Auburn Career Center and businesses, agencies and communities as directed by Practical Nursing Program Administrator.
·         Employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District. (Board Policy 3120.01)

QUALIFICATIONS:
 
·         Completion of an approved registered nursing education program in a jurisdiction as defined in paragraph (S) of rule 4723-5-01 of the Ohio Administrative Code
·         Experience for at least two years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse
·         A baccalaureate degree in nursing
·         Current, valid licensure as a registered nurse in Ohio
·         Prior teaching experience preferred.
·         Documentation of a clear BCI/FBI Fingerprint Background Check (Board Policy 3121)
·         Provide proof of initial two step Mantoux, followed by yearly one step or chest extra documentation.
·         Provide proof of current tetanus shot within ten years
·         Provide proof of hepatitis B vaccine or signed refusal
·         Provide proof of Varicella and MMR vaccine, titer, or documentation of disease.
·         Ability to obtain an adult education teaching permit by the State Department of Education
 
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
·         Responsible for ensuring successful academic and personal development of practical nursing students through didactic and clinical instruction by creating a classroom environment which fosters students’ academic growth and guides their professional development.
·         Provide classroom instruction, including lectures, testing, classroom and lab supervision as assigned
·         Develop a course syllabus and provide an approved copy to all invested parties.
·         Prepare and utilize approved lesson plans and examinations
·         Prepare student progress reports and grade reports
·         Maintain accurate and timely attendance records
·         Maintain course related records
·         Maintains communication with other faculty and clinical facilities regarding student learning needs
·         Assist in the development and evaluation of curricula, philosophy, and objectives of the program
·         Evaluate student competence based on program philosophy and objectives
·         Implement evaluation devices of student learning and clinical experience to measure progress and competency
·         Maintain professional qualifications through participation in continuing education programs, in-service training, and academic courses
·         Participate in committees and school events, including graduation
·         Perform other duties as required by the Program Administrator or Superintendent

·         Duties may require prolonged use of computer keyboard and monitor
·         Duties may require working extended, evening and/or weekend hours.
·         Duties may require under time constraints to meet deadlines.
·         Potential for exposure to adverse weather conditions and temperature extremes.
·         Potential for exposure to air-borne particulates, chemical irritants, combustible materials, electrical hazards, equipment vibrations, noises and odors.
·         Potential for exposure to blood-borne pathogens and communicable diseases.
·         Potential for interaction with disruptive and/or unruly individuals.

Eastern Michigan University is seeking a Director, School of Nursing. EMU (www.emich.edu) is a regional state university serving approximately 25,000 students on a diverse campus located in the Ypsilanti-Ann Arbor area that affords rich cultural and social opportunities. The school is one of the four schools within the College of Health and Human Services and has over 600 undergraduate and graduate students. Both programs are CCNE accredited. In 2009, the School of Nursing instituted a unique doctoral program in Educational Studies in collaboration with the College of Education.

The Director reports to the Dean of the College of Health and Human Services and is responsible for a wide range of activities including but not limited to the following:
• facilitating and exercising leadership in strategic planning, program reviews and accreditation/re-accreditation activities
• managing budgets and coordinating resources
• seeking, procuring, and managing external funding sources
• hiring, supervising, developing and evaluating faculty and staff within a collectively bargained environment
• advocating for programs internally, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally


Required Qualifications:
• Earned doctorate from an accredited institution and a nursing focused Master’s degree
• Current unrestricted RN license in the state of Michigan (or eligible)
• Established leadership and administrative skills
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, administrators, community stakeholders, collective bargaining units, and professional organizations
• Distinguished record of teaching and/or scholarship
• Knowledge of trends and use of health information technology in nursing education, e.g., simulation laboratory
