Speaker - Keith Rischer, RN, MA, CEN, CCRN - President KeithRN

Keith Rischer, MA, RN, CEN, CCRN is an author, blogger, nurse educator, and staff nurse who has practiced for thirty-five years in a wide variety of clinical settings and remains current in practice working in the ICU and ER in Minneapolis. Keith is the author of the student text THINK like a Nurse! Practical Preparation for Professional Practice to help students clinically reason and transition to real-world clinical practice. He is also the author of TEACH Students to THINK Like a Nurse to empower educators to implement practical strategies that emphasize clinical reasoning in the class and clinical settings.

Keith has written over 100 case studies with multiple levels of complexity on a wide variety of topics derived from his lens of current clinical practice. These case studies have been utilized by nurse educators from around the world.

Defined by his passion for nursing and excellence in education, he is a recognized authority on clinical reasoning and its relevance to nursing practice so that graduate nurses are well-prepared for the bedside. His innovative work on clinical reasoning has been published in the literature as well as the current edition of Kozier & Erbs Fundamentals of Nursing textbook. He has presented his insights to nursing students and nurse educators at conferences and workshops across the country.

Keith is pursuing his PhD and will implement a research study that assesses the effect of clinical reasoning case studies on the development of clinical judgment in baccalaureate nursing students.
