TOPIC - A Fresh Look at Competency

FACULTY - Tracy Greathouse, MSN, MBA, RN-BC; Diane M. Kocisko, MSN, RN, CPN; & Kimberly Seiler, MSN, RN, CPN

The purpose of this activity is to review competency and encourage individuals that are teaching nurses/nursing students to evaluate the effectiveness of their teaching styles.  You don't want to miss this informative and exciting program!

The following will be discussed:

  • The meaning of competency and how ongoing competency assessment is required to maintain evidence-based practice in the clinical setting.
  • Analysis of typical methods of learning used in nursing professional development.
  • Applying the content in this presentation to other practice settings and identify how concepts can be applied to other practice areas.

This program , OLN-05-2018 has been approved for 1.0 contact hour by the Ohio Board of Nursing through the approver unit at the Ohio League for Nursing, (OBN-006-92). Attendance at the entire program & turning in a completed
evaluation form are required to receive contact hours. Presenters and planners have indicated no real or perceived conflict of interest.

Faculty Information

Tracy Greathouse, MSN, MBA, RN-BC

Tracy is a Nursing Professional Development Specialist for The MetroHealth System. She provides education, training and support for nursing and ancillary staff.  She collaborates with clinical nurse specialists, nurse managers, directors and other members of NPDS to develop needs assessment for nursing and ancillary to assist with the development of material and competencies. 

Diane Kocisko, MSN, RN, CPN

Diane is the Director of Nursing Education and Professional Practice for The MetroHealth System.  She has held a number of roles centering on professional development in nursing.  She has previous experience working in an enterprise-wide position in nursing education within a large multi-health system organization evaluating competency. 

Kimberly Seiler, MSN, RN, CPN

Kimberly is a Nursing Professional Development Specialist for The Metrohealth System.  She has worked at MetroHealth for the past 16 years with 8 years in the ambulatory setting.  While working in the ambulatory setting she was the education coordinator for Ambulatory Pediatrics and assisted with precepting new employees.  She has been an item writer for the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board for the past 8 years.

Dinner & Program - $25 for OLN Members and $50 for Non-Members. - Members make sure to log in to the website to access member pricing otherwise you will be charged non-member prices.

Registration is online only. You may pay with credit card or print and mail the printable invoice from the website with a check made payable to the Ohio League for Nursing within 10 days of registration.
