Sharing the Lived Experience of an Academic Practice Partnership to Prepare Students for the “Real World” - Eileen Werdman & Deborah Young

In this session we will discuss the problem and the impact it is having on the current state of practice and high turnover of nurses; define the "experience-complexity gap" and "knowledge-practice gap"; define ways to assist with workplace violence, mental health, resilience, stressors, and lack of professionalism; and investigate collaboration between academic/practice nursing leaders.

Resilience Experiences Among Newly Graduated Nurses Transitioning to Practice - Paige Randall

In this session we will describe facilitator and barrier themes to newly graduated nurse (NGN) resilience during transition to practice; describe how culture and socioeconomic status of NGN impacts resilience during transition to practice; and reflect on strategies nurse educators and leaders may use to foster resilience in nursing students and NGNs.  Findings from a nationwide longitudinal qualitative study exploring resilience experiences among nursing students transitioning to professional practice will be shared.
